Lost in San Francisco

If you read our last post and thought "You idiots. San Fran on Memorial Day?!" then you would be correct. Clever plan... Thought through... Etc. There's a few things we didn't totally think through with that being the main one.

We arrived in San Francisco late morning/early afternoon. And the first thing we found out was that there is an admission charge. So scrambling and by some miracle we were able to pull a magic $2 bill and change out of a hat- well, wallet/purse/change holder in the car. Then as we drove in we were a tad overwhelmed by the city.

We decided to first grab some cash for any other admission charges. And that was an obstacle course in itself. Not quite sure how we survived that one.

Then we proceeded to Fisherman's Wharf. Up and down and around we went. Testing the limits of our little cars engine and brakes. I liken it to a Disneyland for cars. We finally got to Fisherman's Wharf where we realized it was slightly suicidal to try to find parking (and a bathroom) so we decided we would see the Golden Gate Bridge.

So more winding and waiting behind trolleys until we found our way to the bridge. Crossed the impressive bridge, found a bathroom (more on our bathroom tour later), crossed back into San Francisco (where they charged an even higher admission that time) and decided to leave.

Yes, we came to see San Francisco. And we did see it, if for only a couple of short hours. But in those few hours we made a couple of observations. 1) We, especially I, could not live there. I like the suburbs and the country. That city was too busy for me. 2) The grand design of the place was amazing! To see the buildings built practically on top of each other was very impressive. 3) With as many buildings as there were, we didn't see 2 building alike. The character of that city is just awe inspiring. And 4) next time we go we would like to do it not on a holiday and see it by bike. Driving in that city is crazy!!!

Our Last Hoorah!

*Note: this post was written at 6:30 p.m. last night but phone wouldn't let me post it until now.*

We are on the road again. It's been a long time since we've visited this blog. Since our last post- which was a very long time ago- we've gone on short trips here and there, but nothing major. Today we are going for one last Hoorah!

One last Hoorah before we add a new travel buddy. Then it will be Mobile Family Counseling. The trip? From Tempe, AZ to San Francisco, CA. At least to start with. Originally we were going to leave at 4:00 tomorrow morning for LA and leave it at that. However we decided to make the most of our last trip for ourselves and leave now.

Literally, David said "How about San Francisco?" I said "Sure!" and he said, "then we need to leave now." So here we are. The beginning of our trip. We plan on making it a frugal trip and flying by the seat of our pants. So when we find something cool, we'll be sure to share!
